Birchwood High School ‘Good’ in all areas
Birchwood High School is pleased to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection, which took place in January 2025. Inspectors judged Birchwood High School to be ‘Good’ in all categories, in line with our own self-evaluation and maintaining the standard from our previous inspection.
The report recognises the school’s welcoming and inclusive environment, the high expectations we set for our students, and the strong outcomes they achieve (both in examinations and beyond). Inspectors also praised the expertise of our teachers, the effective support for students with SEND, and our extensive careers programme, which ensures students are well-prepared for their next steps.
The areas for development highlighted in the report had already been identified and work is ongoing to address them. We will use the insights from the Ofsted team to strengthen our work in these areas.
Highlights from the report include:
“Pupils at Birchwood High School know they are valued for who they are.”
“Pupils, including those in the sixth form, achieve well in public examinations.”
“Most learning happens in a calm, focused environment.”
“Teachers have deep subject knowledge.”
“pupils make well-informed, successful choices about their next steps.”
